Trust fundraising

Identifying the right opportunities and communicating your work in a way that funders can understand and trust.

More than applications

I bring an external perspective to your fundraising, looking at your services, beneficiaries and ambitions through a funder’s eyes. This helps ensure applications and reports truly reflect your work, align with funder interests and clearly articulate not just what you do, but why it matters.

Alongside developing funding applications, I help charities with prospect research, donor stewardship and developing cases for support. I can review existing portfolios, identify overlooked opportunities, re-engage lapsed funders, and tailor projects for different funding audiences.

Client examples

Developing a £1.4m National Lottery Reaching Communities re-application

I created a 5-year continuation funding application showing the need for investment in multiple Outreach services to help a charity improve access and engagement. My key impact was evidencing how this investment addressed caseload demographics, analysing information the charity hadn’t previously been able to explore and connecting it with qualitative evidence.

Securing £40,000 through an evidence-led case for support

I turned a top-line strategic statement about increasing cancer diagnoses into a robust case for support using health, cancer and demographic data to evidence why demand was rising in Devon. This helped secure £40,000 of core funding over 2 years to support the charity’s response to the growing need.

Re-engaging lapsed funders to generate new income

I reviewed a Sight Loss charity’s previous 10 years of giving history to identify lapsed funders with the potential to support the charity again. After researching their current priorities and submitting new applications 15% of those approached made a donation, generating new income from relationships that had been dormant for more than 6 years.

Creating a funding case that truly reflected the service

I revised how an Art Therapy service at a children’s hospice was presented to funders, moving it away from being described as a creative “nice to have” and clearly articulating its role as a psychological intervention. By involving the Art Therapist throughout, I created an accurate funding case with user examples to show the real world impact. My work helped to rebuild trust between the service and fundraising team, improving the sharing of information that could be used to update funders.
